Automaton Forge Company (the “Company”) is committed to maintaining robust privacy protections for its users. This Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”) explains how we collect, use, and safeguard the information you provide to us, and to help you make informed decisions when using our Service.

For purposes of this Privacy Policy, “Site” refers to the Company’s websites, including buildautomaton.com and related domains such as app.buildautomaton.com. “Service” refers to BuildAutomaton, the Company’s cloud IDE and related services for running, reviewing, and collaborating on agentic engineering work, accessed via the Site or our applications. The terms “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the Company. “You” refers to you as a user of our Site or Service.

By accessing our Site or Service, you accept this Privacy Policy and any Terms of Use we publish, and you consent to our collection, storage, use, and disclosure of your Personal Information as described here. Questions: Talk to us or support@buildautomaton.com.

I. Information we collect

We collect “Non-Personal Information” and “Personal Information.” Non-Personal Information includes information that cannot reasonably be used to personally identify you, such as anonymous usage data, general demographic information, referring/exit pages and URLs, platform types, preferences you submit or that are generated from your use, and aggregate click or feature usage. Personal Information includes information that can identify you or be linked to you, such as your email address, name, contact details, location, profile information, account credentials, and linked third-party account data.

1. Information collected via technology

To create an account you generally need to provide an email address (and related authentication details). To use the Service thereafter, you may need to submit further Personal Information, which may include your name, contact information, location, and profile details. In an effort to operate and improve the Service, we also receive information from your browser or our software when you view or use the Service, such as the referring URL, browser type, device information, time and date of access, IP address, and similar technical data.

We may use cookies and similar technologies (including persistent and session cookies) to keep you signed in, remember preferences, maintain security, measure usage, and understand how the Service is used. Persistent cookies remain until you delete them; session cookies expire when you close your browser. Examples of information we may track include authentication state, workspace or UI preferences, feature usage, and diagnostic or performance signals.

2. Information you provide by registering and building a profile

To become a user of the Service you create an account (for example with an email address and password, or via supported sign-in methods). You may also build a profile that includes your name, contact information, location, and connections to third-party profiles such as LinkedIn and GitHub. By registering or connecting those accounts, you authorize us to collect, store, and use the information you provide (and information those providers make available to us with your authorization) in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

3. User content, code, and workspace data

The Service allows you to create, edit, store, and share code, files, prompts, agent session content, logs, previews, and other materials (“User Content”), which may include intellectual property and confidential information. Depending on your configuration and features you enable, we may process User Content to provide the Service (for example storage, sync, collaboration, previews, and support).

4. Third-party integrations

If you connect third-party services (for example Linear or other issue trackers, source control, chat, or similar tools), we may access, receive, and process data from those services as needed to provide the integration you enable. That data is treated as Personal Information and/or User Content as applicable, and is also subject to the third party’s own policies.

5. Children’s privacy

The Site and Service are not directed to anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect or solicit information from anyone under 13, or allow anyone under 13 to sign up. If we learn that we have gathered personal information from anyone under 13 without parental or guardian consent, we will delete that information as soon as practicable. Contact us at support@buildautomaton.com if you believe we have collected such information.

II. How we use and share information

Personal Information

Except as otherwise stated in this Privacy Policy, we do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise share your Personal Information for marketing purposes with third parties without your consent. We do share Personal Information with vendors and service providers performing services for the Company—for example infrastructure, email delivery, authentication, analytics, payment processing, and customer support—who are given access only as needed to perform those services. Those vendors are expected to use Personal Information only at our direction and consistent with this Privacy Policy.

In general, we use Personal Information to operate and provide the Service, communicate with you, respond to questions, solicit feedback, provide technical support, secure accounts, enforce our terms, and (where applicable) inform you about product updates or promotional offers.

We may share Personal Information with outside parties if we have a good-faith belief that access, use, preservation, or disclosure is reasonably necessary to meet applicable legal process or enforceable governmental request; to enforce applicable terms, including investigation of potential violations; to address fraud, security, or technical issues; or to protect against harm to the rights, property, or safety of our users or the public as required or permitted by law.

Cloud hosts, subprocessors, and integrations

To deliver the Service we use third-party cloud infrastructure and related providers, which may include (without limitation) Cloudflare, Fly.io, and other hosts or vendors. That list may change from time to time as we evolve our architecture. When you connect integrations, data may also be transmitted to or received from those third parties as you direct.

Non-Personal Information

We use Non-Personal Information to improve the Service and customize the experience. We may aggregate Non-Personal Information to track trends and analyze use patterns. This Privacy Policy does not limit our use or disclosure of Non-Personal Information, and we reserve the right to use and disclose such information to partners and other third parties at our discretion.

If we undergo a business transaction such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your Personal Information may be among the assets transferred. You acknowledge and consent that such transfers may occur and are permitted by this Privacy Policy, and that any acquirer may continue to process your Personal Information as set forth here. If our practices change, we will post updates to the Site as described in Section VI.

III. How we protect information

We implement security measures designed to protect your information from unauthorized access. Your account is protected by your credentials, and we urge you to keep them safe, not disclose your password, and log out when using shared devices. We further protect information using technological measures that may include encryption in transit, access controls, and related safeguards.

We also offer optional tools intended to help you protect sensitive User Content and intellectual property, including end-to-end encryption features. When enabled as documented, those features are designed so that certain session content may be encrypted with material you control. See our end-to-end encryption documentation for current capabilities and limitations. Availability, scope, and effectiveness of these tools may change, and they may not cover all data, metadata, integrations, or support channels.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Our measures do not guarantee that your information will not be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed by a breach, misconfiguration, third-party failure, or other event. By using our Service, you acknowledge that you understand and agree to assume these risks. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Company disclaims liability for unauthorized access to, or loss, alteration, or disclosure of, information despite the safeguards and optional protection tools we offer.

IV. Your rights regarding the use of your Personal Information

You may prevent us from contacting you for marketing purposes. When we send a promotional communication, you can opt out by following the unsubscribe instructions in that email, or by adjusting notification or communication preferences in your account settings where available. Please note that even if you opt out of marketing, we may continue to send administrative emails, such as security notices, billing messages, or updates to this Privacy Policy.

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, or export certain Personal Information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request, contact us at support@buildautomaton.com. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

VI. Changes to our Privacy Policy

The Company reserves the right to change this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use at any time. We will notify you of significant changes by sending a notice to the primary email address on your account or by placing a prominent notice on our Site. Significant changes will go into effect 30 days following such notification. Non-material changes or clarifications take effect immediately. You should periodically check the Site and this page for updates.
